2023 All-Stars Information

Hello GSLL Families,

Registration for All-Star tryouts is now open!

Tryout dates:
All Star tryouts are tentatively scheduled for Monday/Tuesday May 15/16.  Those details are still being finalized based on availability.

Practices will begin that week once teams are announced.

Traditionally the following teams are fielded:
Minors:  League age 8 to 10, Minors rules (with no coach pitch), including using an 11 inch ball pitching from 35 feet.
Majors: League Age 9 to 11, using Majors rules, using a 12 inch ball pitching from 40 feet.
Little League:  League Age 10 to 12, using Majors rules, using a 12 inch ball pitching from 40 feet.
Juniors:  League Age 12 to 14, using Juniors rules, using a 12 inch ball pitching from 43 feet.
Due to lack of players, there will not be a team for Seniors (15-16).

Boundary rules are strictly enforced for All-Stars, if you are unsure about eligibility, then please send an email to [email protected].

Tournament play:
For girls softball, District 14 consists of only Gilbert Softball and Queen Creek Heat.  Which means that we will play them in each division that we field a team in a best of 3 series to determine who goes to the state tournament.
We have not gotten confirmation yet for district tournament dates, other than they will start June 19th at the earliest.  We will post those dates as soon as we get them from our District Administrator.

This is a big time commitment, as teams will be practicing 4 or 5 days a week from mid May through late June.

Cost of play:
$175 for those that are selected to play.  This includes jersey and socks.  Players will be responsible for white pants and a white helmet.
There is no cost to try out.  You will get an email confirmation similar when you signed up to play this season.

Registration and Team formation:
There are only two teams to sign up for.
Tryouts - Juniors:  eligible Juniors players from this last season, including 12 year olds who played up.
Tryout - Minors/Majors:  open to all Minors and Majors players from this season. 

Players will be evaluated together by age groups (in a similar process to start of year evaluations).
Board of Directors and All-Star coaches will determine which All-Star division to place each player in order to make all teams even and competitive.

Each All-Star division will have one Team Manager and two Assistant Coaches.  Other parents are encouraged to participate as Team Volunteer during practices.  Little League has a strict rule that only the 3 official coaches are allowed to be in the dugout during tournament play.
Please note that signing up to volunteer or assist does not guarantee a roster spot for your daughter.

Registration is open until Sunday, May 14th.  There will be no late registration for All Star Tryouts.
